This position assumes responsibility for supervising and managing the daily operations and maintenance of Apparel Knitting machines. This involves providing assistance to production, overseeing relevant projects, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. The core objectives of this role encompass creating and adhering to maintenance schedules for both preventative and corrective tasks, actively participating in endeavors to enhance and upgrade systems, and striving for optimal machinery utilization. In the event of emergencies, the role is designed to minimize downtime while adhering to company guidelines and maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Cost-Effective Execution of Preventive Maintenance:
- Discusses and comprehends preventive maintenance requirements based on daily log reports.
- Ensures the systematic implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Collaborates to finalize the preventive maintenance schedule with the supervisor and incorporates any necessary changes.
- Communicates the preventive maintenance schedule to operations, and after receiving input, confirms maintenance dates.
- Implements the scheduled preventive maintenance and ensures strict compliance.
- Facilitates the tagging of equipment under maintenance by the shift in-charge.
- Reviews subordinate-prepared spare parts estimation sheets.
- Shares and discusses the estimation report with the Head of Department for approval.
- Keeps critical equipment parts on hand to minimize system shutdown durations.
- Procures high-quality, cost-effective spare parts for Apparel Knitting machines through reliable suppliers.
Mechanical Repair & Maintenance Activities:
- Executes corrective maintenance and repairs with minimal downtime.
- Focuses on cost-effective and dependable repair and maintenance solutions through innovative approaches.
- Maintains critical equipment parts in stock to minimize system downtime.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management:
- Establishes and nurtures relationships with vendors; Tracks timely delivery of requirements.
- Communicates equipment needs to vendors.
- Evaluates received quotations and participates in the selection process.
- Facilitates the approval and sharing of accepted quotations with Procurement & Supply for purchase order generation.
- Ensures spare parts/supplies are delivered as per purchase order terms.
- Validates material inspection reports and takes corrective measures as required.
- Initiates move orders and purchase requisitions.
- Reviews and approves goods received notes in terms of quality and quantity.
- Collaborates with finance for timely payments.
- Assists vendors in resolving inquiries.
- Reviews and approves move orders.
- Generates code opening requests and code activation requests for the inventory management department when needed.
Knitting Machine’s Cylinder Changing & Changeover:
- Receives the machine’s cylinder changing plan from the team lead.
- Initiates move orders to obtain the necessary cylinders from the main store.
- Performs knitting machine cylinder changes as per the plan.
- Hands over the knitting machine to the line supervisor after changing the cylinder.
- Ensures timely knitting machine cylinder changes according to the received plan.
- Ensures machine changeover in accordance with fabric requirements.
Required Skills
- Profound understanding of Knitting Machines, projects, and related equipment.
- Strong grasp of mechanical concepts coupled with knowledge of the Textile Industry.
- Proficient in IT systems such as Inventory Management Systems.
- Clear comprehension of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) best practices.
- Extensive knowledge of machine changeover procedures.
- Solid troubleshooting and maintenance technique skills.
- Ability to interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies.
- Knowledgeable about manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of safety protocols.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (5’s, TPM, QMS, etc.).
