Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT) by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) through the Education Testing Council (ETC) is the gateway for undergraduate admissions in universities across Pakistan. This test, modeled after the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), encompasses various disciplines such as Engineering, Medicine (Allied Health), Information Technology, Management, and Social Sciences at the undergraduate level.
Eligibility Criteria for USAT:
- Students who have successfully completed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent/Grade 12 education.
- Students awaiting results after appearing in the final examination.
USAT Test Categories Based on Academic Streams: The test is categorized into six streams to align with academic disciplines:
- USAT-E: Pre-Engineering
- USAT-M: Pre-Medical
- USAT-A: Art & Humanities
- USAT-CS: Computer Science
- USAT-GS: General Science
- USAT-COM: Commerce
A qualifying score on USAT is 50 or above, with a perfect score of 100.
Test Schedule and Registration: The test is conducted quarterly in major cities, with additional tests arranged based on demand. Candidates can register online through the ETC portal (https://etc.hec.gov.pk/).
Role of Universities: Universities will independently announce their admission programs. Applicants to universities accepting USAT must submit their ETC score card to be included in the merit determination formula.

- Visit https://etc.hec.gov.pk/ for online registration.

- Only submitted applications are considered; save or incomplete applications are not entertained.
- Pay the non-refundable and non-transferable test fee of Rs. 1750 through participating banks/ATMs/online platforms.
- After payment, click on “Verify Online Payment” on the ETC Dashboard.
Important Notes:
- Resolve queries/complaints before the registration deadline.
- Prohibited items, including electronic devices, are not allowed in the test center.
- Last date for online registration: January 17, 2024.
