Introduction

Pakistan Navy, one of the three premier armed forces of Pakistan, has officially announced a large-scale recruitment drive for Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in 2026. This is a golden opportunity for highly qualified Pakistani graduates, postgraduates, and medical specialists to serve their nation while enjoying an exceptional career filled with professional growth, prestige, financial security, and international exposure.

The Pakistan Navy is seeking talented, dedicated, and physically fit individuals across a wide spectrum of disciplines — from combat and engineering roles to medical specialists, IT professionals, legal experts, educators, and media professionals. Applications are being accepted exclusively online through the official Pakistan Navy recruitment website at joinpaknavy.gov.pk from 10 May to 14 June 2026. Applications submitted directly to the Recruitment Directorate at Naval Headquarters will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Available Branches & Eligibility Criteria

Pakistan Navy is recruiting officers across 10 major branches with multiple specializations in each. Below is a detailed breakdown:


1. Operations Branch

The Operations Branch is the backbone of Pakistan Navy's combat and maritime superiority. Three distinct specializations are available:

a) Marines / SSG(N) — Male Candidates

  • Education: HSSC (FSc) / A-Level / Equivalent with Physics & Mathematics (minimum 60% marks)
  • Graduation: 16 years of education or above with at least 60% marks or 2.25 CGPA from an HEC-recognized university
  • Age Limit: Up to 26 years (candidates up to 24 years may be preferred)
  • Rank on Induction: Acting Sub-Lieutenant (Ag S/Lt)

b) Aviation — Male Candidates

  • Education: HSSC (FSc) / A-Level / Equivalent (Pre-Engineering) with minimum 65% aggregate marks
  • Graduation: 16 years of education with Physics & Mathematics, minimum 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA
  • Special Note: Preference given to candidates with aviation background, robotics/drone flying experience, or basic flying training from a reputed institute. A Flying Aptitude Test is a mandatory prerequisite. Officers who drop out from basic flying training will be released from service.
  • Age Limit: Up to 26 years (24 years preferred)
  • Rank on Induction: Ag S/Lt

c) Operations (General) — Male Candidates

  • Education: HSSC (FSc) / A-Level / Equivalent with Physics & Mathematics (minimum 60% marks)
  • Graduation: BBA / BSc / BS HRM — minimum 16 years of education with at least 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA
  • Age Limit: Up to 26 years (24 years preferred)
  • Rank on Induction: Ag S/Lt

2. Mechanical Engineering Branch

a) Surface — Male

  • BE / BS / BSc (Mechanical Engineering), 16 years of education, minimum 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

b) Aviation — Male

  • BE (Aerospace / Mechanical / Manufacturing Process), 16 years of education, minimum 3.0 CGPA
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

c) Submarine — Male

  • BE (Mechanical), 16 years of education, minimum 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

3. Supply Branch

Surface — Male

  • MBA / BBA (Hons) / M.Com / MSc Economics / B.Com — minimum 16 years of education with at least 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: As per Policy

4. Weapon Engineering Branch

a) Surface — Male

  • BE / BS (Electrical / Electronic Engineering), 16 years of education, minimum 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

b) Aviation — Male

  • BE (Avionics / Electrical / Electronics / Telecom Engineering), minimum 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

c) Submarine — Male

  • BE (Electrical / Electronics), 16 years of education, minimum 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

5. Ordnance Branch

Male Candidates

  • BE (Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics / Mechatronics), 16 years of education, minimum 2.5 CGPA or 60% marks
  • Age: 22–27 years | Rank: Ag S/Lt

6. Medical Branch (Male & Female)

This is the most extensive branch with opportunities for both GDMOs and highly specialized postgraduate medical professionals:

General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs)

  • MBBS with minimum second division from PM&DC/PMC recognized institution
  • Completed one year house job at PM&DC/PMC recognized hospital
  • Active PM&DC/PMC registration required
  • Age: Up to 30 years | Rank: Surg Lt

Specialist Positions (FCPS or Equivalent) — Age up to 40–42 years | Rank: Ag Surg Lt Cdr

Note: Medical Branch Specialists will primarily be stationed in Karachi/Islamabad (except one tenure outside). Evening practice and teaching at PN hospitals is allowed as per policy.


7. Education Branch — Male Candidates

  • Qualification: MS / M.Phil (18 years of education) with 2.5 CGPA or First Division
  • Age: 23–31 years | Rank: Ag Lt
  • Subjects Available: English, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Biology, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, Statistics
  • Teaching experience preferred

8. Naval Law Branch — Male Candidates

  • LLB / LLM / PhD / Bar at Law
  • Member of the Bar with at least two years of practice in courts
  • Minimum 50% marks or equivalent
  • Age: 25–40 years | Rank: As per Policy

9. Information Technology Branch — Male & Female

Qualification Options:

  • Bachelor's (BS): Minimum 16 years of education with 2.5 CGPA in: AI, Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Information/Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, Data Science
  • Master's (MS): Minimum 18 years of education with BS in above disciplines in: AI, CS, IT, Software Engineering, CE, Information/Cyber Security

Preferred Skills: AI, Software Development, Data Center, Cyber Security, Network Design & Management, Software Quality Assurance, Graphic Designing, Database Administration, Android/iOS App Development, Network Security, Digital Forensics, programming in C, C+, C#, VB, Java

Selection Process — Step by Step

  1. Online Registration at joinpaknavy.gov.pk (10 May – 14 June 2026)
  2. Computer-Based Test / E-Testing — Intelligence Test & Academic Test
  3. Preliminary Medical Examination at respective PNR&SC
  4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  4. Interview by PN Selection Board
  5. Final Merit List announced by Naval Headquarters

Physical Standards:

  • Male Height: Minimum 5 feet 4 inches
  • Female Height: Minimum 5 feet
  • Age calculated as of 01 January 2027

Ineligibility Criteria

The following candidates are NOT eligible to apply:

  • Rejected by ISSB / GHQ / NHQ / AHQ Selection Board under disqualifying conditions
  • Twice rejected by ISSB for Postgraduate Entry
  • Twice screened out by ISSB
  • Tested within 120 days of previous ISSB appearance (unless waiver granted)
  • Dismissed / Removed / Debarred from Government Services including Armed Forces
  • Convicted in a Court of Law for any heinous offense
  • Permanently declared Unfit by Appeal / Medical Board (PUF by AMB)
  • Declared medically unfit due to Hepatitis B & C
  • Withdrawn from any bonded Armed Forces college/institution on disciplinary grounds
  • Withdrawn/discharged/resigned from any Armed Forces Officers Academy/Training Institution
  • Candidates found tampering with academic certificates, forgery, or concealment will be permanently ineligible for all types of commission in the Armed Forces

Important Note for Female Candidates: Married female candidates must provide an undertaking stating they will not be in a family way at the time of joining and during training.


Tips for Applicants

  • Get ears waxed and teeth cleaned by a specialist doctor before reporting for medical examination (Pakistan Navy's official advisory)
  • Ensure all academic documents are original and verified
  • Begin physical fitness training early to clear the PET comfortably
  • Register well before the deadline of 14 June 2026 to avoid last-minute technical issues
