The Tourism Archaeology and Museums Department (TAM Department), operating under the Government of the Punjab, Pakistan, is one of the most culturally significant public sector institutions in the country. Its primary mandate encompasses the promotion of tourism, preservation of archaeological heritage, and management of museums and cultural sites across the province of Punjab.

Punjab is home to some of the most historically rich and archaeologically significant sites in South Asia, including ancient cities, Mughal-era monuments, colonial-era structures, and a vast network of museums. The TAM Department plays a crucial role in not only preserving these national treasures but also in developing tourism as an economic driver for the province.

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the TAM Department recognizes the need to integrate modern Information Technology and multimedia solutions into its operations to better serve tourists, researchers, students, and the general public. To this end, the department has launched an important initiative under the Annual Development Program (ADP) Scheme titled:

"Establishment of Business Development Cell & IT Strengthening of TAM Department"

Under this ADP Scheme, the TAM Department seeks qualified, experienced, and dedicated individuals who are domicile holders of Punjab to serve in the Tourism Department, Punjab on a contract basis / project pay scale. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to harnessing the power of technology and digital media to modernize and strengthen the tourism and heritage sector.

The job advertisement (Reference: IPL-5920) has been issued by the Section Officer (General), Tourism Archaeology and Museums Department, Government of Punjab, with offices located at 8th Floor, Tower C, Old P&D Building, Lahore.


Available Positions – Detailed Description


Position 1: IT Expert

No. of Posts: 1
Upper Age Limit: 40 Years
Pay Package (PPS-8): PKR 288,750/- Per Month
(Salary will be increased @ 8% annually)
Duty Station: Lahore (Tourism Archaeology & Museums Department)


Educational Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Sciences or an IT-related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution.

  • Minimum 16 years of education is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding higher qualifications (above Master's level, such as MS, M.Phil., or PhD in Computer Sciences or related IT fields).

This position demands a highly educated and technically proficient individual who can lead the IT strengthening initiatives of the TAM Department. Given the nature of the work, candidates with advanced degrees and strong research backgrounds in IT will be prioritized.


Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience at a responsible position in IT-related projects, preferably those dealing directly with the Tourism Sector.
  • Hands-on experience with Android Application Development is required.
  • Candidates must also have experience in iPhone Operating System (iOS) development.
  • Experience working on digital platforms, web portals, content management systems, or tourism-related technology projects will be considered a strong advantage.

Role and Responsibilities

The IT Expert will serve as the technical backbone of the Business Development Cell being established within the TAM Department. Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  1. IT Infrastructure Planning and Management: Overseeing the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure across the TAM Department's offices and field sites.
  2. Mobile Application Development: Leading the development and maintenance of Android and iOS mobile applications for tourism promotion, museum visitor guides, archaeological site navigation, and related digital services.
  3. Digital Transformation: Spearheading the department's digital transformation efforts, including the digitization of museum records, archaeological data, and tourist information.
  4. Technical Project Management: Managing IT-related ADP projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and in compliance with government procurement rules.
  5. Cybersecurity and Data Management: Ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of the department's digital assets and databases.
  6. Coordination with Vendors: Liaising with IT vendors, software houses, and government technology bodies to procure and implement technology solutions.
  7. Reporting and Documentation: Preparing technical reports, IT specifications, and documentation as required by project timelines and government audit requirements.
  8. Tourism Technology Integration: Implementing technology solutions specific to the tourism sector such as digital ticketing systems, e-guides, virtual museum tours, GPS-based archaeological site maps, and tourism information portals.
  9. Team Leadership: Guiding and supervising junior IT staff and project team members in day-to-day IT operations.
  10. Capacity Building: Training department staff on the use of technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms.

Position 2: Content Development and Multimedia Officer

Pay Package (PPS-6): PKR 138,600/- Per Month
(Salary will be increased @ 8% annually)
Duty Station: Lahore (Tourism Archaeology & Museums Department)


Educational Qualifications

Candidates must hold:

  • A Master's degree in Mass Communications or a related field
  • AND a Diploma in Graphic Designing
  • Minimum 16 years of education is required

The combination of a strong academic background in Mass Communications with practical skills in Graphic Designing makes this a unique and specialized role. Candidates who hold both qualifications will be ideally positioned to handle the creative, communicative, and visual aspects of the department's outreach and media strategy.


Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in related fields (content development, multimedia, mass communications, or graphic design)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in video editing and post-production is mandatory

Candidates with experience in creating content for government departments, tourism bodies, cultural institutions, or media organizations will be strongly preferred.


Role and Responsibilities

The Content Development and Multimedia Officer will be responsible for creating, managing, and distributing high-quality digital content that promotes Punjab's tourism, archaeological sites, museums, and cultural heritage. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Content Strategy Development: Developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy for the TAM Department across digital and traditional media platforms.
  2. Graphic Designing: Creating visually compelling graphics, infographics, brochures, banners, posters, and promotional materials for tourism campaigns, museum exhibitions, and cultural events.
  3. Video Production and Editing: Planning, shooting, and editing professional videos including documentaries, promotional films, social media reels, event coverage, and virtual tour content for archaeological sites and museums.
  4. Post-Production Work: Performing advanced post-production tasks including color grading, sound design, motion graphics, subtitling, and final rendering of video content.
  5. Social Media Content Management: Creating and managing content for the department's official social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, TikTok), ensuring regular, engaging, and high-quality posts that attract both local and international tourists.
  6. Website Content Management: Writing, updating, and managing content for the TAM Department's official website and tourism portals, ensuring accuracy, SEO optimization, and user-friendly presentation.
  7. Photography: Capturing high-quality photographs of archaeological sites, museum collections, cultural events, and tourism destinations for use in publications and digital platforms.
  8. Promotional Campaign Management: Coordinating and executing digital and print promotional campaigns for tourism seasons, cultural festivals, and museum events.
  9. Multimedia Presentations: Developing engaging multimedia presentations for official meetings, international tourism exhibitions, and stakeholder briefings.
  10. Content Archiving: Maintaining a well-organized digital archive of all multimedia content, including photos, videos, graphics, and written materials.
  11. Collaboration: Working closely with the IT Expert, department officers, and external agencies to ensure cohesive communication of the TAM Department's mission and programs.
  12. Annual Reports and Publications: Assisting in the preparation of the department's annual reports, newsletters, and official publications with professional graphic design and layout.

General Conditions

3. Project Period Adjustments:
In case the project period is reduced or enhanced, the contract appointment order may be amended accordingly with the approval of the competent authority.
